Jim Hunter, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

BAg Ec, University of New England; MBA, Queensland University of Technology; GAICD

Jim has 18 years commercial experience spanning numerous industries with companies such as leading global agribusiness Monsanto and has held CEO and operational roles in The Farmshed, Centrogen, and Genos. His early career was in sales, marketing and product development. Jim has developed and implemented the commercialisation strategies for several university and CSIRO created technologies.

Dr Kevin Glencross, CARBON MANAGER

PhD BAppSc

Kevin specializes in establishing and managing biodiverse forests to enhance productivity. Kevin leads the design of WCG forests and develops ongoing management systems.

Following a PhD at Southern Cross University focused on growing productive biodiverse forests Kevin has worked with corporate forestry, conservation groups and private landholders to create and manage forests that optimise a range of values.

David Pont, WATER MANAGER

BAppSc (Environmental Resource Management) (Hons)

David leads the design, development and management of WCG water treatment systems.

David has a strong research focus and extensive hands-on experience in the project management of wastewater and stormwater solutions, new generation constructed wetlands, modern waste stabilization ponds, Water Sensitive Urban Design, effluent reuse projects, on-site wastewater management systems, natural wetland rehabilitation and integrated catchment management.

Robert McKenzie, SENIOR ECOLOGIST

BAppSc (Environmental Resource Management) (Hons)

Robert is responsible for monitoring and enhancing the ecological benefits of WCG systems.

An experienced ecologist specialising in aquatic ecosystems and natural treatment systems, Robert has technical skills and practical experience in design, management and monitoring of constructed wetland systems.

John Howlie, PROJECT MANAGER

Post Grad Dip Project Management (Hons)

John’s job is to ensure projects meet quality, time and budget requirements.

John has 25 years experience in civil, landscape design and construction and project management in the public and private sectors.

James Bentley, ENVIRONMENTAL MARKETS MANAGER

BSc & BCommerce

James integrates his scientific and commercial capabilities to ensure WCG projects maximise social, environmental and financial returns.

James has worked for the UK government, an international consulting firm and Australia’s largest irrigation company providing advice on water resources and carbon market economics, environmental policy and natural resource risk management.

Katrina Curran, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

BAppSc (Environmental Resource Management) (Hons)

Katrina has environmental science, design and ecosystem monitoring background with expertise in field survey and data analysis. She has worked on projects involving riparian and ground water ecosystems.

Brendan Morse, PROJECT OFFICER

BSc, GradDip (Environmental Studies), GradDip (International Public Art)

Brendan has 14 years experience in a range of environmental and artistic industries including environmental management, landscape gardening and horticulture, Permaculture and sustainable living practices, bush regeneration, field-based conservation, ecotourism and Public Art. He brings a broad suite of skills to his role as Project Officer at WCG, including project design, project management and project delivery, key to the front end delivery of W&CG’s on-ground projects. Brendan is also a practicing sculptor with a passion for sustainable technologies and eco-design.

Samuel Leicester, PROJECT OFFICER

BSc (Ecology) University of Queensland

Samuel has been heavily involved in the development of the Queensland vegetation management framework and has a particular interest in offsets and strategic biodiversity outcomes.  Samuel has over 7 years experience in the UK, South-East Asia and Australia in both the public and private sectors.

Nerissa Crabbe, PROJECT OFFICER

BSc (Ecology)

Nerissa has recently graduated from her Bachelor of Science studies majoring in Ecology from the University of Queensland.  In addition to six years experience in Reception and Administration roles, she has experience in a range of scientific disciplines including bushland restoration, water quality monitoring and terrestrial ecological surveys.  Her key interests are in restoring degraded landscapes to improve ecological functioning, integrity and future sustainability.

Daniel Cole, PROJECT OFFICER

BHortSc (Horticultural Science)

Daniel has worked in the horticulture and landscape industry for over 15 years in Australia and abroad.  He has experience within landscape planning firms as a horticulturist assisting with the selection and management of vegetation in commercial landscape projects.

Malaika Reason, OFFICE & PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR

BA (Art History and Classical Studies)

Malaika comes to us from four years living and working in London as office manager for a project management company within the design / construction industry.  Malaika has extensive experience in office administration and management as well as experience assisting large corporate projects.  Malaika's role as Office and Project Administrator for WCG has responsibilities to support multiple projects and to run the administration across our three offices.
