Ongoing research into world’s best practice wetland design and management and hands-on adaptive management of real systems leads to the outstanding treatment performance of WCG wetland systems.

The performance, efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of WCG wetlands is expected to exceed that of any wetland designed on currently accepted principles in Australia. Current product development and research continues in the following areas:

  • Wetland treatment processes such as Annamox and the importance of Redox on phosphorus adsorption
  • ‘Active Filters’ for pre-treatment and phosphorous removal
  • Application of wetlands for treatment of coal-seam gas associated water
  • Integration of storm water constructed wetlands and natural wetland rehabilitation in the upper catchment for environmental values and improved water quality
  • Cost-benefit analysis of comparisons between WCG’s system and competing approaches

Capital Cost Comparative: Upgrade of South Lismore STP

Relative capital costs of WCG’s system verses a competing approach in Northern NSW. Results based on actual systems.
